One in five U.S. adults say they regularly get news from creators on social media. Newsrooms have started to experiment with partnering with creators to expand their reach, but there is still much unknown about the benefits and challenges of these partnerships. News Creator Corps wants to help newsrooms and creators navigate these partnerships and we’re looking for your input on what guidance you need most. To do this, we’ve put together two surveys – one for newsrooms and one for creators – to better understand your biggest questions about newsroom-creator collaborations.
News Creators Corps is a movement to ensure everyone has access to accurate and trustworthy information. We invest in content creators and community messengers so they can better share facts, debunk misinformation, and empower their audiences with information. We aim to make social platforms safer for all, by investing in information sharers through training, partnerships and community building.
We are compiling a comprehensive guide that digs into the sticking points as newsrooms and creators consider collaborating. There are things about newsroom-creator partnerships that cause both sides to hesitate, including a lack of trust between parties and uncertainty about the ins and outs of exactly how the collaboration will work.
Newsrooms, we want to know your biggest questions in partnering with creators. Are you unsure of how to monetize the partnership or how editorial oversight would work? If you’ve considered partnering with a creator, tell us what your newsroom was hoping to get out of it and any of the concerns or challenges you’ve had. You can fill out a short questionnaire here.
Creators, what are the benefits you see in working with newsrooms? What are some of the concerns or questions you have? If you’ve considered partnering with a newsroom, we want to hear about the pros, cons and unknowns you’ve weighed. You can fill out a short questionnaire here.
