Trusted Creator Training Fellowship

As the new trusted voices of our time, content creators have both an outsized influence on shaping public opinion, as well as an outsized responsibility to get the information they are delivering to their audiences right. News Creator Corps’ flagship program is a training fellowship for information-focused content creators. Our cohorts are made up of independent creators who provide a service to their community, whether that’s restaurant openings, public health information, parenting discussions, or local stories. The fellowship teaches tactical skills like fact-checking, sourcing, and interviewing to ensure the creators are disseminating accurate information. Fellows receive a $5,000 stipend.

Community Amplification Program

The Community Projector Program connects community groups, nonprofits, local government agencies, and civic organizations with content creators and trusted messengers to spread the word about important programs and resources. These creators work across platforms, mostly frequently on TikTok, Instagram, and Substack, and have deeply engaged audiences. We are particularly interested in supporting projects around topics that frequently confront misinformation and disinformation, such as health and wellness, election integrity and civic engagement, immigration, and weather and climate.

Events

News Creator Corps hosts virtual and IRL events at the intersection of creators, information, and journalism. Have an idea? Get in touch.

News Creator Corps invites creators and community messengers to join this masterclass with A.W. Ohlheiser, a media expert in covering extremism and internet culture. A.W. will break down the process for evaluating and reporting on extremist content and disinformation, helping creators to determine their role in the story, the most responsible way to present the information to their audience, and how to minimize being hijacked by online extremists.

But we can change that. You know your audience well. With help, you can provide them with relevant factual information they need to navigate these systems. You’ll hear from an expert journalist at Open Campus, a nonprofit news organization that ensures communities have the independent information they need about higher ed.
